About Amanda

Thank you for checking out my website.

Collaborating with medium-sized businesses and startups, I will develop (or refine) your brand story, brand messaging and content to connect your brand to varied audiences. The goal, of course is to increase customer acquisition, engagement, and retention.

I live and work in the San Francisco Bay Area, in an idyllic town just north of the Golden Gate Bridge. While I'm writing brand stories for my clients, you will often find me either sitting (and working intensely) at Starbucks for hours on end, or happily staring out my home office window inspired by the majesty of Mt. Tam, our local treasure.

You will notice (working with me) that I am a "Curious George" type.   I constantly ask questions to get at the essence of what makes people (and brands) tick.  I'm very curious about the intersection of marketing and human behavior, and have published a blog series on this topic.

In my spare time, I enjoy watercolor portrait painting of politicians, famous people and dogs, though I'll save that story for later…...

Bio

Over 15+ years broad marketing experience. I am passionate about connecting your customers to your brand, whether it be B2B, B2C, technology, retail, medical /healthcare technology, or non-profit. To help you maximize engagement with your targeted customers, I rely on marketing acumen in brand strategy, market planning, content strategy and development. I've worked on both agency and "client side" for global brands.

My brand strategy chops (working in the digital ecosystem, CPG, "brick and mortar", B2B) were developed at world-class brand consultancies such as CKS Partners, Siegel & Gale, Sterling Group, McCann Erickson. I lead teams in business strategy, positioning, messaging, brand architecture, and brand equity analysis.

Where I bring a unique perspective is the intersection of marketing and behavioral psychology. As a guest blogger for Kapost, B2B content tech platform, I look at ways to connect with customers (to maximize sales). http://www.amandapirot.com/blog

My Brand Story

Brand building 101
My first branding project began one month out of college. It was rebranding my unique self, starting with changing my birth name. You'd be surprised at how many people change their birth names…… (I never felt my birth name reflected how I saw myself and how I wanted the world to see me). After days of deciding what values my brand stands for, I went through a rigorous naming process (collaborating with a "naming committee"). I carefully examined the meanings of alternate names to ensure they are aligned with my brand values, before I settled  on the name "Amanda Pirot".  It is, as strong brands are: unique, memorable/punchy, evokes emotion or image, looks good on paper, and sounds cool to say.

Then, I tackled the brand mark (or logo).  I was elated practicing my signature for hours on end with different tools (a paint brush, a crayon, and a calligraphy pen). I asked an art director to help me capture the essence of my brand personality; joyful, animated, lovable, yet with a thoughtful side.  (Hint: If you hire me for your next brand storytelling or copywriting project, you can see my signature in the flesh ---- on the contract)!

Finally, I had numerous people (a teacher, friend, family member,  business colleague, and judge) get practice saying my new brand name. The feedback was very positive.

See for yourself.  Say my name out loud 3 times, "Amanda Pirot" , and you too will likely say "wow, that's a great name"!

My passion for branding YOUR company and writing a clever, funny, thoughtful or compelling story to connect with your audience continues to motivate me today!
